Soprano Wendy Bryn Harmer and tenor William Burden are electric in Beethoven's operatic masterpiece, Fidelio, performed on period instruments and filmed at a live performance on Boston Baroque's stage. Martin Pearlman conducts an all-star cast in this moving story of undying love and unflinching hope. Florestan is held captive as a political prisoner and his wife, Leonore, is determined to free him. She disguises herself as a young man named Fidelio in the hope of finally releasing Florestan from his imprisonment.
